Help with postpartum depression

Help with postpartum depression.

Postpartum refers to a time of significant physical and psychological changes. The transition from woman to mother is an important transition that requires time. While many experience this period as challenging but joyful, it is common for mothers and fathers to become more vulnerable to mental health issues during this time.

Praktijk Postpartum offers help and support with postpartum depression. Even if you gave birth several months ago, or more than a year. Counseling can help with your recovery, and prevent symptoms from getting worse.

  • Feel overwhelmed, anxious, and/or extremely stressed.
  • Struggle with sleep problems (either sleeping too much or too little).
  • Find it hard to enjoy or have fun (even with your baby).
  • Have trouble concentrating.
  • Feel inadequate in your new role as a parent.
  • Feel insecure, unworthy.
  • Struggle with feelings of guilt and overthink a lot.
  • Are overly concerned about your baby and feel anxious.

About 1 in 8 women report symptoms of PPD in the year after giving birth. Everyone experiences PPD differently.

Counseling refers to accessible emotional support, consisting of one or more (online) sessions. As a Postpartum Counselor I will create a safe and confidential space where you can freely express your thoughts and feelings. By talking about what you’re currently experiencing, we’ll work together to find ways for you to navigate through this time in a healthy manner. I will support you, and I hope our sessions provide a solid foundation during this challenging time.

Since sessions can also be conducted online, you can reach out to me no matter where you live. I also offer in-person counseling in my practice space in Eersel, North Brabant.

Counseling is meant for:

  • Parents experiencing postpartum depression.
  • Parents struggling with feelings of sadness, anxiety, and stress after childbirth, which affect their daily functioning.
  • Parents dealing with the aftermath of a postpartum depression.
  • Partner/spouse, family members, and other loved ones who need support and guidance during this time.
  • The counseling process is approachable and clear.
  • I work from a place of trust and maintain a pragmatic, positive attitude.
  • I share up-to-date (scientific) and hopeful knowledge about postpartum mental health, which can offer hope during this period of time.
  • While there are similarities, every person and situation is unique. I will always offer a personal approach.

Selina Tomur – Postpartum Counselor

It can be hard to seek help when you are feeling sad or anxious as a (young) parent. These kinds of feelings are very common, and the likelihood of them passing is high. You deserve to be supported during this time. As a counselor and someone with personal experience with PPD, I will share honest and hopeful insights about mental health issues in the postpartum period. This knowledge can provide you with hope.

My name is Selina Tomur and I aim to contribute to a society with more understanding of parents who experience mental health issues after childbirth, so that young parents can rely on the help, support, and attention they deserve.

We start with an initial consultation of one hour, during which we get to know each other in depth, and I explain more about my approach. We take the time to discuss your situation and explore how I can assist you. I will share a proposal for your situation, and by the end of this session, you can decide if you’d like to proceed together.

Are you curious whether counseling could be helpful for you, or do you have any questions? Feel free to reach out. The first phone consultation is always free and without obligation.

I am happy to assist you with any questions or concerns. If you need more information, feel free to contact me. You can reach me by phone, WhatsApp, or email. An (online) appointment can usually be scheduled within a week.
